News 4 San Antonio Investigative Reporter Jordan Elder Announces Pregnancy and Praises Community Support

San Antonio broadcast journalist Jordan Elder, an investigative reporter for News 4 and KABB, has shared personal news with viewers across South Texas, confirming that she and her husband, Matt Roy, are expecting their first child. The announcement has drawn widespread support from colleagues, local viewers, and the broader Alamo City community.

The couple revealed the milestone on social media, announcing that their baby is scheduled to arrive in March. Following the post, Elder experienced an outpouring of well-wishes from local residents, reinforcing the strong bond that television journalists often establish with their local viewing audience over years on the air.

Reflecting on the response, Elder expressed deep appreciation for the community’s kindness, noting that the welcoming nature of San Antonio has made the experience feel remarkably special. She explained that having so many community members share in their excitement has added meaningful joy to their transition into parenthood.

Elder recalled the exact moment she and Roy discovered the news together at home. The couple used a digital pregnancy test equipped with a countdown feature, watching the display until the positive result was revealed. Upon seeing the confirmation, both were overcome with excitement, jumping up and down in celebration of their upcoming journey.

Throughout this new chapter, Elder praised Roy as an unwavering partner, describing him as a great teammate who continues to provide steady support. She emphasized that his collaborative approach has been a constant presence throughout their years together and remains vital as they prepare to welcome their child.

Roy is equally familiar to local news audiences, having previously worked alongside Elder as a sports reporter and anchor at News 4 and KABB. He stepped away from his on-air television role in October 2025, choosing to leave the sports desk in order to prioritize family planning and build a foundation for their future household.

The couple’s relationship predates their professional work in Texas. Their connection first formed in 2019 after meeting at a party while attending Arizona State University. From that initial introduction, they built a life together that eventually carried them into the competitive field of local television news.

In 2022, Elder and Roy relocated to San Antonio to advance their broadcast careers. Later that same year, the couple married, formally laying down personal and professional roots in the Alamo City that have now culminated in their growing family.

According to Elder, starting a family had long been an overarching aspiration for the couple, but finding the right timing was crucial. As their respective professional schedules and daily routines aligned more closely, expanding their household became increasingly feasible and practical.

While celebrating the milestone, Elder has also been open regarding the physical challenges of early pregnancy. Navigating the demanding schedule of investigative reporting during the first trimester has involved coping with persistent fatigue, bouts of nausea, and a heightened sensitivity to everyday scents.

Elder described her sensory perception as operating at maximum intensity, noting that everyday odors can easily become overwhelming. She observed that these early pregnancy symptoms cannot simply be conquered through discipline or willpower alone, requiring her to balance physical well-being with professional responsibilities.

With several months remaining before the birth, the couple has begun initial preparations, including starting to shop for baby essentials. Elder noted that they have not yet selected a name, as they have not yet learned whether they are expecting a boy or a girl.

Elder, who is the eldest of three siblings in her family, expressed genuine excitement about witnessing the child's development firsthand. Drawing from her experience growing up as the oldest child, she looks forward to guiding the baby through formative learning stages and helping them navigate the world.

Balancing the fast-paced nature of investigative journalism with the duties of motherhood is a significant undertaking, but Elder finds encouragement in her newsroom environment. She emphasized that numerous colleagues at News 4 and KABB have modeled how to successfully maintain a strong standard of reporting while raising a family.

Looking ahead to her March due date, Elder plans to lean on the guidance and mentorship of experienced parents within her station. With supportive coworkers and an encouraging local community, she and Roy are eagerly preparing for the arrival of their first child in the spring.
